21st March 2018,

Dear patients,

Many of you will know how hard it is to get a GP appointment at the moment.

This is due to large numbers of new patients joining us from the closing Earsdon Park practice.

In fact, the practice size  will be growing by almost 40% ,we think.

We are the only local practice open currently . Unfortunately it has been very difficult to plan what staff we need, and some of you will know it is very difficult to get GPs currently.

However, we have recruited and will have another doctor joining us in the summer, and in between times will try and recruit some locums to help us.

During this time, we would please ask you to consider speaking to a local pharmacy, using the 111 telephone service, using some of the helpful health websites below  or the walk-in centres if necessary.

We are planning in starting a new service where you can fill in electronic form with lots of information on it for us to help make speedy decisions and possibly avoid unnecessary appointments. At the moment, we do not know when this exactly will start.

We also know that the telephone lines are very full at the moment, and would ask :

  • please use the online methods of requesting prescriptions (ask for a password and username)
  • instead of ringing the practice to see if a prescription is ready, if it is an electronic one, please ring the pharmacy. We plan to do all electronic prescriptions within 48 hours.

It would be very helpful for the practice to have up-to-date mobile telephone numbers and email addresses.
