Minor Surgery

Dr Rookwood runs a minor surgery clinic.  All patients wanting minor surgery for things such as removal of skin tags must be assessed by a doctor first before being considered for treatment.

Patients with certain injurys require joint injections but must be assessed by a doctor first.  This can be given by any of the GP’s.

Childhood Vaccinations

Practice Nurse Michelle Hedley runs this clinic every Wednesday morning between 09:00-11:00

Contraception Clinic

If you are considering contraception, you must make an appointment with the doctor to assess the options available. After this the Practice Nurse, Michelle Hedley sees patients for check ups for the contraceptive pill and also for the depo injection. Dr George sees patients for the implant for both removal and insertion.

NHS Health checks

This health check is available to patients between the age of 40 and 74 and can be made with either Practice Nurse Michelle Hedley or Healthcare Assistant Yvonne Spoors. This will include bloods, blood pressure, height and weight and personal health questions.

Antenatal & Postnatal clinics

Antenatal clinics are held weekly by the midwife every Tuesday morning.  Postnatal checks are carried out by the doctors for things such as postnatal 6 week checks.

COPD/Asthma

COPD/Asthma patients are usually called in yearly for a review with the Practice Nurse Michelle Hedley.

Travel immunisation and advice

Practice Nurse Michelle Hedley offers travel advice and travel immunisations required for certain areas of the world. If you have booked a holiday and you require vaccines please make sure you book an appointment at least 8 weeks before your holiday, to make sure the vaccine is working.

Cervical Smears

Practice Nurse Michelle Hedley is the Lead clinician for Cervical Screening.  Current guidelines are for women between the ages of 25 and 49 to be screening every three years and women betwen the ages of 50 and 64 to be screened every 5 years.

Long Term Conditions

For patients who suffer from a chronic disease, we will either contact you by telephone or letter to make an appointment with either the doctor or the pracitce nurse. We will call for you either 6 monthly or yearly depending on the condition that you have.

Smoking Cessation Clinic

Healthcare Assistant Yvonne Spoors runs the smoking cessation clinic.  If you are thinking about stopping smoking just make an appointment with Yvonne and she will discuss the treatments available to you.

Medicals

All of our doctors do medicals, e.g. taxi and HGV medicals.  This appointment should usually take about an hour to complete and it is usually an early morning appointment at 7am.  Please book in advance as the early morning slots are quite popular. Please note there will be a charge for this.
