Travel & Holiday Vaccinations

Prior to travelling please allow as much time as possible to arrange your appointment at the surgery ( at least 6 weeks or more), which will be with the Practice Nurse. You will need to first go online at Fit for Travel to obtain which vaccines you require, then contact the surgery to book your appointment.

It is important to make this initial appointment as early as possible, as vaccines have to be ordered as they are not a stock vaccine. Your appointment needs to be at least 2 weeks before you travel to allow the vaccines to work.

Some travel vaccines are ordered on a private prescription and these incur a charge over and above the normal prescription charge. This is because not all travel vaccinations are included in the services provided by the NHS.

The below vaccinations are usually available free on the NHS:

Private Travel Vaccinations

We do not provide the following vaccinations and you will be required to go to a specalist clinic and pay for these vaccinations:

Benzodiazepines for Flight Anxiety Policy

NPMG has reviewed its benzodiazepine prescribing and established the below policy not to prescribe benzodiazepines or sedatives (such as diazepam) to patients for fear of flying. There are several very good reasons why presbribing this drug is not recommended. Please read the Benzodiazepines for Flight Anxiety Policy to find out more.
